However, knowing what items you’ll want for your new apartment can get confusing. What should you think about for your first apartment checklist for Bloomington?

The kitchen is easy for a new renter because a lot of of your large essentials -- such as the stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher -- are already included. You only really need a table and chairs for the dining area, but make sure it seats at least four. Even if you live by yourself, it’s good to have room for a meal with friends or family.

  • Can opener, spatula, kitchen scissors

  • Microwave-if not provided

  • A good skillet or frying pan

  • A baking sheet

  • A good chef knife

  • Shelves or china cabinet for holding extra dishes

  • Coffee maker

  • Salt, pepper, and other spices

  • Dish soap and scrub brush

  • Food storage containers

  • Corkscrew, cheese grater, and other cooking tools

  • A knife set with stand

  • Food -- It’s always nice to move in with food already in the fridge

The bathroom is rather straightforward, as the bath tub, sinks, toilets, and medicine cabinets are already there. If you have a guest bathroom, you only need toilet paper, soap, and a hand towel.
